During the Huawei presents: Accelerate UHD Adoption panel at NAB on April 26, 2017, I presented S&P Global Market Intelligence’s current picture of Ultra HD. Panelists Hanno Basse, Thierry Fautier, Paul Higgs, and I discussed the costs and factors associated with adopting UHD in terms of content production, distribution networks, and equipment requirements. Panelists agreed that while monetizing UHD movie titles is straightforward, recouping investments made for UHD in other content segments may not be as clear-cut. All do feel that consumers will be willing to pay more for the higher quality content experience.
