THE CLIENT: News providers, banks, and technology companies with brokerage platforms

USERS: Technology and data integration, sales and client development, 3rd party channel partnerships

News providers, or banks, and technology companies developing brokerage platforms aim to enhance their product offerings and deepen their content. These institutions seek to seamlessly integrate data enhancements into existing solutions for their customers. Clients are demanding more information, including insights from S&P Global Ratings Research, which provides valuable perspectives into the markets where they invest and operate.

Brokerages and news providers catering to a diverse range of end customers have recognized the increased sophistication of their clients and the intensifying competition for market share. The need to innovate and offer in-demand content is critical for remaining well positioned as a solutions provider.

The S&P Global Research Core News dataset enables our clients to easily integrate credit research news with their own content and solutions. This dataset includes nearly 3,000 current English-language news summaries that can be integrated via bulk delivery and displayed via client platforms to support both internal and external display.

Pain Points

News providers, banks, and technology companies with retail brokerage platforms want more content to innovate their offerings, satisfy client demand, and remain competitive. Some common feedback S&P Global received includes the following needs:

  • Increased third-party provider content
  • Timely updates from underlying S&P Global Ratings news articles
  • An easier process for bulk downloads
  • More seamless integration into internal databases and platforms
  • A single access point for research and news

Teams have turned to S&P Global Market Intelligence to discuss possible solutions.

The Solution

The RatingsXpress®: Research Core News dataset is available in easily ingestible formats and supports text analysis workflows. This integration enables clients to stay updated on the latest ratings actions from S&P Global Ratings. The news articles provide additional context, including qualitative information from the analysts, allowing end clients to understand the key drivers behind the ratings' actions. Clients can integrate these news articles into their existing workflows and platforms to enhance surveillance and monitoring capabilities while increasing efficiency. S&P Global provides bulk delivery of active news articles along with article metadata.

This dataset includes:

  • News comments: These are published to comment on industries, sectors, or companies when no rating action is taken. They also announce newly published research articles or upcoming teleconferences.
  • Rating actions: These are released when a rating action is taken on a global issuer or public finance issue. The release contains a rating rationale, a current rating, and the story behind a rating action.
  • Bulletins: A bulletin is a brief comment that addresses a development or event that will have no rating impact on an issuer.
  • Press release: A press release is issued when a rating action is taken on a structured finance issue. The release contains the rating rationale, the current rating, the story behind the rating action, and a rating list if appropriate.
