Move fast and launch funds

Corgi uses the VC playbook to reshape the ETF market

For decades, ETF issuers have largely followed the same playbook: conduct extensive research, identify market demand, and launch products sequentially. Corgi is taking a different approach.

Founded in 2024 and backed by venture capital, the firm has rapidly built an ETF business centered on speed, automation, and scale. Rather than carefully selecting a handful of fund concepts, Corgi is launching a broad range of products across thematic equity, leveraged exposure, buffer strategies, and fixed income, allowing investors to determine which ideas gain traction.

The approach is already producing eye-catching results. As of September 2026, Corgi had launched 206 ETFs and accumulated approximately $800 million in assets under management, with plans to expand to 500 funds within its first year.

The Take

Corgi's strategy challenges a core assumption of the ETF industry: that successful product launches require extensive forecasting and careful sequencing. Instead, the issuer is applying a venture capital mindset, making numerous small bets and relying on a handful of standout products to drive growth.

If successful, this model could reshape how ETF issuers think about product development and expansion. As technology and automation continue to reduce the operational burden of launching and managing funds, competitive advantage may increasingly come from speed, scale, and distribution rather than predicting the perfect product before launch.

The next few years could determine whether Corgi remains an outlier or becomes a blueprint for the future of ETF innovation. The bigger question facing the industry is no longer how to launch a successful ETF, but whether launching many ETFs may become the most effective way to find one.
