ANNOUNCEMENT — 25 Aug, 2026
S&P Global Makes Strategic Investment in SSImple
S&P Global has made a strategic investment in SSImple, marking an important milestone in our collaboration and reflecting our shared commitment to modernising the management of Standing Settlement Instructions (SSIs).
SSIs are a critical component of the post-trade process, yet their management remains fragmented across the industry and often relies on manual processes and duplicated data maintenance. As capital markets move towards shorter settlement cycles and greater levels of automation, the need for accurate, governed and accessible SSI data is becoming increasingly important.
The US has already transitioned to T+1 settlement, while the UK and EU are moving towards T+1 in October 2027. Shorter settlement cycles reduce the time available to identify and resolve exceptions, increasing the importance of high-quality data, automation and efficient post-trade workflows.
Through our collaboration with SSImple and the development of SSI Automate, we are bringing together SSImple’s specialist expertise in SSI management with S&P Global’s market connectivity, workflow capabilities and extensive client network.
Our ambition is to help create a more efficient, connected and resilient approach to managing settlement instructions across the capital markets ecosystem.
Why SSI Management Matters
Standing Settlement Instructions provide the information required for transactions to settle accurately and efficiently between counterparties.
However, firms often maintain SSI data across multiple internal systems, counterparties and processes. This fragmentation can create operational complexity, duplicate maintenance and increase reliance on manual validation and intervention.
As firms continue to automate their post-trade operations, trusted SSI data becomes a critical foundation for straight-through processing. Accurate, well-governed instructions can help reduce settlement risk, minimise manual intervention and enable firms to operate more efficiently at scale.
Building the Infrastructure for Greater Automation
Our strategic investment in SSImple builds on the work already underway between our organisations and reflects our belief that SSI management represents an important opportunity for industry-wide transformation.
By combining SSImple’s technology and SSI expertise with S&P Global’s capabilities and connectivity across financial markets, we see an opportunity to reduce the fragmentation that exists today and make trusted settlement instruction data more readily available within firms’ existing workflows.
Through SSI Automate, we are focused on helping market participants:
- Improve the quality and governance of settlement instructions
- Reduce manual intervention and associated operational risk
- Support greater straight-through processing
- Increase efficiency across post-trade workflows
- Strengthen readiness for shorter settlement cycles
- Build more scalable and resilient settlement operations
The strategic investment will allow us to deepen this collaboration and continue developing solutions that address the evolving requirements of the post-trade ecosystem.
Supporting the Next Phase of Post-Trade Transformation
The transition to shorter settlement cycles is one part of a broader shift taking place across capital markets.
Financial institutions are increasingly looking to automate operational processes, improve data quality and reduce the number of manual interactions required to complete a transaction. Achieving that requires trusted data to be available at the right point in the workflow and maintained with appropriate controls and governance.
SSI management is a fundamental part of that infrastructure.
By working with SSImple, we aim to help clients move towards a model where settlement instructions can be managed, maintained and distributed more efficiently, reducing duplicated effort and supporting a more connected post-trade ecosystem.
Looking Ahead
S&P Global’s strategic investment in SSImple represents an important next step in our relationship and reinforces our shared ambition to modernise a critical component of capital markets infrastructure.
As markets continue to shorten settlement cycles and firms accelerate their adoption of automation, trusted and efficiently distributed SSI data will become increasingly important.
We look forward to building on our collaboration with SSImple and helping clients create more automated, efficient and resilient post-trade operations.
