In the latest version of Media Talk, S&P Global Market Intelligence senior reporter covering the media industry Mike Reynolds is joined by Macquarie analyst Tim Nollen and Seth Shafer, an analyst at Kagan, a research group within S&P Global Market Intelligence, to discuss the expansion of the streaming landscape, in light of the coronavirus.
The battle of the streaming platforms has started long before the coronavirus pandemic.
There was the launch of Apple TV+ last November and the much anticipated Disney + debut. Making the market even more crowded, short-form mobile platform QUIBI premiered April 6, ad-supported service Peacock from Comcast NBCUniversal entered the market on April 15, and AT&T's HBO MAX is expected in May.
Now with self-isolation in many parts of the nation and around the world, more people are streaming content at home.
