Surging US data center power demand tests sustainability targets

US grid power supplied to data centers increased 25% in 2025 to reach about 64.4 gigawatts and has nearly tripled since 2020, according to data from 451 Research, part of S&P Global Energy Horizons. Demand could nearly triple again by 2030.
