Jupiter Power LLC commissioned the 200-MW/200-MWh Crossett Power Battery Storage facility in Crane County, Texas.
The facility positions Jupiter Power as the largest developer and operator of battery energy storage projects by total duration on the Electric Reliability Council Of Texas Inc. grid, the company said in a June 29 news release. Jupiter Power now has over 450 MWh of total dispatchable energy storage capacity.
Crossett joins the 100-MW/200-MWh Flower Valley II battery storage project operating in Reeves County, Texas, and three distribution-connected facilities.
"We have witnessed the strain that the Texas climate can put on the grid during unseasonably warm days," Mike Geier, Jupiter Power chief technology officer, said in the statement. "Jupiter Power's projects like Crossett and Flower Valley II are optimally sited where the grid needs support to enhance resiliency both cost-effectively and reliably."
Jupiter Power is looking to commission a 100-MW/200-MWh project in West Texas this summer.
