Netflix renews 'The Lincoln Lawyer'; Tubi signs content deal with Lions Gate

* Netflix Inc. will debut biographical drama film "Blonde," starring Ana de Armas as Marilyn Monroe, on Sept. 23, Variety reported. The movie is based on Joyce Carol Oates' novel of the same title.

* Fox Corp.'s free, ad-supported streaming service Tubi Inc. reached a multiyear agreement to become the premier ad-based video-on-demand home to 30 new feature films from Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., including recent releases "Shattered" and "Pursuit."

* Netflix renewed legal drama series "The Lincoln Lawyer" for a second season.

The Americas

* Live-sports streaming platform fuboTV Inc. will integrate free-to-play, predictive games into its livestream, affording viewers a chance to win prizes and place live bets in select areas via its sportsbook operation. Beginning June 20, the new pick'em game format will challenge users to predict the winner of select live sporting events each Sunday.

* HBO Max renewed multiple Emmy-winning comedy series "Hacks" for a third season. The Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.-owned streaming service also ordered adult animated science-fiction drama series "Scavengers Reign," set to premiere in 2023.

* Apple Inc.'s Apple TV+ renewed sports drama series "Swagger" for a second season. The series is inspired by NBA superstar Kevin Durant's experiences in the world of youth basketball.

* In more Apple TV+ news, the streaming service will premiere limited series "Five Days at Memorial" on Aug. 12 and comedy series "Bad Sisters" on Aug. 19.

* Corus Entertainment Inc. will premiere July 6 the 24th season of the competition reality series "Big Brother" on STACKTV, the Global TV App and Global TV.com.

Europe, Middle East and Africa

* Paramount Global's streaming service Paramount+ is set to launch in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France in December. Paramount+ also plans to commission 150 international originals by 2025, ahead of its announced June 22 rollout in the U.K. and Ireland.

* In more Paramount Global news, Pluto TV, in partnership with Sony Pictures Television Inc., launched four new channels that will bring content from Sony Pictures Television to the free, ad-supported streaming service in Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the U.K., according to TV Technology.

* Apple unveiled new U.K. crime thriller series "Criminal Record," starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, to be available on Apple TV+.

* Walt Disney Co. will make animated documentary "Flee" available on its Disney+ streamer in the U.K. and Ireland on July 15, according to Advanced Television. Disney+ also made five "Spider-Man" movies available on its platform in the U.K. and Ireland on June 17, Advanced Television reported.

* ITV PLC's upcoming free streaming platform ITVX will offer over 9,000 hours of series, documentaries and films, following its launch in the U.K. later this year.

* Viaplay Group AB renewed young adult series "Thunder in My Heart" for a second season, set to premiere on its streaming platform in 2023.

* AMC Networks Inc.'s AMC+ streaming platform is rolling out in Spain through Vodafone España SAU's TV platform for a monthly price of €3.99, Digital TV Europe reported.

Asia-Pacific

* Japanese public broadcaster NHK secured rights to the first season of comedy mockumentary series "The Inbestigators" from the Australian Children's Television Foundation, World Screen reported. The series will air every Sunday night, starting Aug. 7, on NHK's streaming and catch-up platform NHK Plus.

* Netflix is streaming "Sing, Dance, Act: Kabuki featuring Toma Ikuta," a documentary on the first kabuki theater performance of Japanese actor Toma Ikuta with long-time friend and kabuki performer Matsuya Onoe.

* Amazon Freevee picked up Philippine broadcaster GMA Network Inc.'s romance drama series "The World Between Us," which will begin streaming June 22, GMA News Online reported. The series will be the first in the Filipino language to stream on Amazon.com Inc.'s AVOD service.

* Wavve Americas launched its KOCOWA streaming platform in the U.S. via Amazon Prime Video Channels, World Screen reported. The service offers Korean drama, pop, variety and library titles. Wavve Americas is a joint venture between South Korean broadcasters KBS, MBC and SBS together with SK Telecom Co. Ltd.

* "Choices – Dare To Dream," which features young Indians who get to live their fantasy lives for several days, is streaming on Viacom18 Digital Ventures' streaming platform Voot, World Screen reported. The series airs under a partnership between Voot's brand services arm, Voot Studios, with German broadcaster Deutsche Welle.

* Paramount+ launched in South Korea via streaming service Tving as part of a global tie-up between Paramount Global and Tving's founder, entertainment company CJ ENM Co. Ltd.
