Glennmont Partners starts operations at 211-MW Finnish wind farm

Infrastructure equity firm Glennmont Partners started commercial operations at the 211-MW Piiparinmäki wind farm in Finland.

Through its third clean energy fund, Glennmont co-owns the project with Kansai Electric Power Co., which holds a 15% stake in the project.

The Piiparinmäki project consists of 41 Vestas Wind Systems A/S turbines spread across the regions of Kainuu and North Ostrobothnia. The wind farm is one of the largest unsubsidized wind farms constructed in Europe, Glennmont said in a June 16 news release.

Generation from 24 of the turbines will be sold to Google LLC under a 10-year power purchase agreement. The remaining output will be sold through a merchant agreement with Vattenfall AB.

Project developer Ilmatar Energy Oy worked on the balance of plant contracting and the provision of construction management services at the site.

Ilmatar Service Oy will handle the day-to-day operations of the wind project with oversight from Glennmont's asset management team.
