Hafize Gaye Erkan, the former co-CEO, president and board member of San Francisco-based First Republic Bank, was named CEO of real estate finance company Greystone, effective immediately.
Erkan's executive responsibilities at Greystone will start in September. She will report to Steve Rosenberg, who will continue as the company board's executive chairman.
Erkan left First Republic Bank as co-CEO in January, roughly six months after she was appointed to that role in July 2021.
Erkan and Rosenberg will work to execute a "two-part joint vision," according to a press release. First, they will seek to accelerate Greystone's core commercial and multifamily real estate lending and capital markets. Second, they will expand the business into adjacent financial services, "including expanded lending products, and private wealth management, as well as real estate and fintech fund management," the press release said.
The pair is also exploring private banking and residential mortgage lending opportunities.
