Penso Power Ltd. and Luminous Energy secured full planning permission for a 350-MW battery storage development in North Warwickshire, U.K.
The companies said May 4 that the approved design for the Hams Hall project allows the deployment of more than 1,750 MWh of battery storage, which will support the U.K. electricity system.
"Energy storage is critical in supplying affordable, clean power, while also enhancing the U.K.'s grid reliability," Luminous Energy's David Bryson said in a news release. "This project, one of a pipeline we have in development, will also contribute financially to sustainable and green initiatives locally."
BW Group Ltd. will also hold a stake in the project, after committing to fund the Hams Hall project as part of an October 2021 agreement with Penso Power.
Penso Power said it will manage the project once it is operational.
