Ecolab Inc. has signed a virtual power purchase agreement that will support the construction and operation of the Mörknässkogen wind farm in Finland.
Low Carbon, a renewable energy investment and asset management firm, developed the five-turbine wind farm, which is expected to start operations by the end of 2023, Ecolab said in an April 4 news release. The facility is expected to produce about 100 GWh per year, or enough energy to power more than 29,000 homes.
The wind farm will also cover 100% of the electricity used by Ecolab to power all of its European sites and would reduce potential greenhouse gases by an estimated 20,900 tonnes, the release said.
