S&P Global Market Intelligence rounds up notable bank and thrift branch openings and closings, or applications for such, over the past week.
Mid-Atlantic
Englewood Cliffs, N.J.-based ConnectOne Bank intends to close three in-state branches on or about March 31, according to the State of New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. The branches are at 512 Springfield Ave., Berkeley Heights, N.J.; 899 Palisades Ave., Fort Lee, N.J.; and 12 East Palisades Ave., Englewood, N.J.

Before Providence, R.I.-based Citizens Financial Group Inc. acquired Short Hills, N.J.-based Investors Bancorp Inc. on April 6, the latter's subsidiary, Investors Bank, was issued an authorization on April 1 by the New York State Department of Financial Services to open and occupy a branch office at 2012 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, New York, on or after April 2, according to the state regulator's website.
Southeast
Martinsville, Va.-based Carter Bank & Trust is set to open in early May its second North Carolina regional banking hub at 500 E. Morehead St., according to a press release. The hub will be a flagship center for Carter Bank and will house the regional commercial banking team and a full-service retail financial center, according to the release.

Thomasville, Ga.-based TC Federal Bank is opening a new office in Jacksonville, Fla., initially for commercial loan production and soon after with a retail branch, according to a press release.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Truist Financial Corp. announced that Truist Securities Inc., its full-service corporate and investment bank, will relocate its national headquarters to a leased space in a yet-to-be-constructed class A building in The Battery Atlanta, adjacent to Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves.

Miami Lakes, Fla.-based BankUnited NA opened a new corporate banking office at 3500 Lenox Road, Suite 720, Atlanta, under the newly hired market executive and corporate banking team leader, Adam Gordon, according to a company release.

Charlotte, N.C.-based Bank of America Corp. is permanently closing its branch at 6611 Carmel Road, Charlotte, N.C., later this April, and another branch at 2950 Union Road, Gastonia, N.C., in July, Charlotte Business Journal reported, citing a BofA spokesperson. Both have been temporarily shut down since 2020, according to the report.
Its branch at 7911 Providence Road, Charlotte, N.C., will also be relocated to a nearby location at 7921 Providence Road in November, according to the report.
Southwest
Jenks, Okla.-based Gateway First Bank is hosting a grand opening ceremony on April 13 for its first Oklahoma City banking center at 6303 Waterford Blvd., Suite 100.
