JPMorgan Chase & Co. unit JP Morgan Asset Management unveiled a new sustainability-focused growth private equity investment team that sits within J.P. Morgan Private Capital, a growth equity and private credit investment platform.

The team's first private equity strategy will concentrate on investing in growth-stage private companies that drive resource efficiency and climate adaptation solutions across a range of industries, according to a Jan. 24 news release. JP Morgan will invest up to $150 million for the team's first investment strategy, marking one of its largest capital commitments ever made into an alternative investment strategy.

The company named Tanya Barnes co-managing partner of the team, joining Osei Van Horne. Barnes previously worked at Blackstone Inc. as head of the Blackstone Impact platform. Additionally, Sarah Kapnick, JP Morgan's senior climate scientist and sustainability strategist, will become part of the team's investment committee and engage with portfolio companies.
