Irish fixed broadband company eir Ltd. and InfraVia Capital Partners agreed to create a dedicated fiber company for the deployment of fiber to the home in the country.
InfraVia will acquire a 49.99% interest in the entity, named Fibre Networks Ireland, while eir will take the remaining 50.01%.
InfraVia will serve as an investment partner, and eir will contribute its existing fiber-to-the-home and copper infrastructure to meet a goal of reaching 1.9 million premises by the end of 2026.
Fibre Networks Ireland will enter into a long-term service agreement with eir and will also have an open-access model allowing all retail broadband operators in Ireland to access its services through Open eir Networks.
