Walt Disney Co.'s streaming service Disney+ will launch in 42 countries and 11 new territories across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to a Jan. 26 announcement.
The new markets include South Africa, Turkey, Poland and the United Arab Emirates.
Disney+ bowed in the U.S., Canada and the Netherlands in 2019. The streaming platform also launched in the U.K., Austria, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, among others, in 2020.
Kagan, a research group within S&P Global Market Intelligence's Technology, Media and Telecommunications offering, had projected Disney's total amortized spending for Disney+ to reach about $4.5 billion in 2024, with 46.2% expended on originals.
