Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners K/S has formed a joint venture with AustriaEnergy and Oekowind to develop the 1.7-GW HNH green hydrogen and ammonia project in the Magallanes region in Chile.
The project will consist of a 1.7-GW onshore wind farm, electrolyzers, ammonia plant and a port facility. It is expected to produce 1 million metric tons of green ammonia per year, according to a Jan. 13 news release.
Investment for the export-oriented project is estimated to reach more than $3 billion. CIP said the project will become part of its energy transition fund, which is focused on power-to-x and other next-generation renewable technologies.
