Athene Holding president resigning; new COO named

Athene Holding Ltd. President William Wheeler is resigning from his role, effective March 31, and will transition to vice chairman.

Wheeler will be succeeded by Grant Kvalheim, CEO and president of Athene USA Corp.

Athene Holding also appointed Michael Downing as COO, effective Jan. 7. Downing served as the company's executive vice president and chief actuary since 2015. He is expected to continue as chief actuary until a successor is appointed.
