KBC Group CFO retirement sparks management reshuffle

KBC Group NV CFO Rik Scheerlinck will retire after 37 years at the Belgium-based bank-insurer, triggering a broader management reshuffle.

Luc Popelier, current CEO of the international markets business unit, will succeed Scheerlinck as CFO and executive director, who reached the statutory age limit in January.

The board of directors appointed Peter Andronov, CEO of United Bulgarian Bank AD and country CEO for Bulgaria, as Popelier's successor. Andronov will also oversee KBC Asset Management NV.

KBC Bank Ireland PLC CEO Peter Roebben will take over Andronov's current post, while Ales Blazek, head of data and strategy at the Czech Republic business division of Československá obchodní banka a.s., was appointed Roebben's successor.

Additionally, Daniel Falque will step down as CEO of the Belgium business unit on May 6 to pursue other interests. David Moucheron, current CEO of K&H Bank & Insurance, or Kereskedelmi és Hitelbank Zrt., and country CEO for Hungary, will replace Falque.

Guy Libot, senior general manager of group finance at KBC Group, will become CEO of K&H Bank & Insurance and country CEO for Hungary.

The appointments of Popelier, Andronov and Moucheron have all been approved by the European Central Bank and National Bank of Belgium, while the appointments of Libot, Roebben and Blazek are subject to Hungarian, Bulgarian and Irish regulatory approval, respectively.
