S&P revises outlook on Marsh & McLennan to stable

S&P Global Ratings affirmed the A- long-term issuer credit rating of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. and revised the outlook to stable from negative.

The outlook revision reflects the company's execution of articulated priorities to reduce leverage after it acquired JLT Group Holdings Ltd. in 2019. Marsh & McLennan has restored its credit metrics to within the bounds of the rating level by following through on capital management commitments and solid performance despite tough macroeconomic conditions, according to the rating agency.

The stable outlook is based on S&P Global Ratings' expectation that the insurer's business position will remain strong and that its credit protection measures will continue to improve toward the mid range of intermediately leveraged financial profile on a run-rate basis.
