ByteDance to appoint head of global R&D for TikTok – Reuters

Beijing Byte Dance Telecommunications Co. Ltd. is to appoint Zhu Wenjia to the newly created role of head of TikTok Inc.'s global research and development, Reuters reported Feb. 24, citing two sources.

Zhu, the current chief of ByteDance's news aggregator unit Jinri Toutiao, will reportedly oversee the short-form video application's product and technologies, including its recommendation algorithms.

The role will be based in Singapore, the report said.
