Top News
* The board of French telecom operator Orange SA accepted Stephane Richard's resignation as chairman and CEO. This came after the Paris Court of Appeal handed Richard a one-year suspended jail sentence, saying he was guilty of complicity in the misuse of public funds in a long-running fraud case, Dow Jones Newswires reported. Richard said in a statement that he rejected the accusations and would appeal.
* Workday Inc. promoted Barbara Larson, its senior vice president of accounting, tax and treasury, to CFO, effective Feb. 1, 2022. The application software company also named Doug Robinson, executive vice president of global sales, as its new co-president, effective immediately.
The Americas
* Electronic Arts Inc. appointed Rachel Gonzalez to its board. Gonzalez, who is Starbucks Corp.'s executive vice president and general counsel, will join the EA board's nominating and governance committee.
* Interpublic Group of Cos. Inc. Executive Chairman Michael Roth will retire on Dec. 31. The marketing services provider elected David Thomas as nonexecutive board chair, effective Jan. 1, 2022. The changes are part of a transition plan announced in October 2020, when the company appointed Philippe Krakowsky as CEO.
* Duolingo Inc. appointed Kendra Ross as head of social impact. The newly created role will focus on local impact in Pittsburgh, where the company's headquarters are located.
* Angi Inc. appointed Sandra Hurse and Jeremy Philips to its board of directors. Hurse is managing director and chief human resource officer of Grosvenor Capital Management LP, while Philips is a general partner at Spark Capital Partners LLC.
* AMC Networks Inc. CFO Christina Spade is taking up the additional role of company COO. In her new dual role, Spade will oversee AMC Networks' key businesses, including AMC Networks International LLC, while remaining in charge of the company's financial operations, investor relations and global technology portfolio.
* ViacomCBS Inc. promoted BET (US) President Scott Mills to CEO of the Black content-focused cable network and related media assets.
* Social-media management platform operator Hootsuite Inc. appointed Christiane Pendarvis, Dave Singh, Carl Sparks and Julie Herendeen to its board of directors. Herendeen will also serve as chair of Hootsuite's board. Meanwhile, Sara Clemens and Shahrzad Rafati left the company's board.
Europe, Middle East and Africa
* Cellcom Israel Ltd. CEO Avi Gabbay has resigned and is exploring the acquisition of a rival company.
* European semiconductor company STMicroelectronics NV named Marco Cassis as president of analog, MEMS and sensors; Remi El-Ouazzane as president of microcontroller and digital ICs; Lorenzo Grandi as president of finance, purchasing, ERM and resilience; and Jerome Roux as president of sales and marketing. The appointments are effective Jan. 1, 2022.

* Jakob Mejlhede Andersen resigned as chief content officer of Middle East Broadcast Corp.'s streaming platform Shahid, TBI Vision reported.
* Paul Fletcher will join U.K. internet registry services provider Nominet UK Ltd. as CEO starting February 2022.
* British semiconductor company IQE PLC has appointed Americo Lemos as CEO, effective Jan. 10, 2022, Dow Jones Newswires reported.
* Romania's parliament named Dan Cristian Turturica as president-general manager of public broadcaster TVR, according to Broadband TV News.
* Aleksander Skolozynski stepped down as CFO of Polish broadcast infrastructure operator EmiTel EmiTel Sp. z o.o., Telecompaper reported.
Asia-Pacific
* Sterlite Technologies Ltd. named Praveen Cherian as CEO for its network services business and Raman Venkatraman as CEO for its software business. Cherian and Venkatraman will take over duties from KS Rao, who will become chief corporate officer at the India-based digital networks integrator.
