Nucor Corp. said it plans to add a blast and prime line at its $1.7 billion steel plate mill project in Brandenburg, Ky.
The blast and prime line will have a capacity of about 120,000 tons per year and will broaden the North Carolina-based company's offerings of wider and thicker plate products, it said Nov. 18.
Nucor said the new line will also enable operations to better serve key markets including the military, infrastructure, heavy equipment, offshore wind and other energy products.
The Nucor Steel Brandenburg plate mill is expected to employ about 400 workers once fully operational, with the startup scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2022.
