Lone Star to sell MBCC Group; Primavera invests in GoTo's $1.3B pre-IPO round

TOP NEWS IN PRIVATE EQUITY

* Sika AG agreed to buy construction chemicals supplier MBCC Group from a Lone Star Funds affiliate for CHF 5.5 billion. The acquisition is targeted to close in the second half of 2022, subject to regulatory approval.

* Indonesian tech company GoTo Group raised more than $1.3 billion at the first close of its pre-IPO funding round, Reuters reported. Investment firms including Primavera Capital Group and Temasek Holdings (Pte.) Ltd. participated in the fundraising, according to the report.

* Sycamore Partners Management LP is looking to sell Stag's Leap Wine Cellars LLC for roughly $1 billion, Bloomberg News reported Nov. 11, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The private equity firm tapped an adviser to explore strategic options for the company a month after it bought the label from Altria Group Inc., according to the report.

* Planet Payment Inc. acquired Swiss payment solutions provider Datatrans AG for an undisclosed amount. The buyer is owned by Advent International Corp. and Eurazeo SE.

* Educational Testing Service Inc., through its ETS Strategic Capital unit, bought a majority stake in Toronto-based higher education admissions platform Kira Talent Inc. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

* Affiliates of American Securities LLC invested in packaging and trims manufacturer r-pac International Corp. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

FUNDRAISING

* NewQuest Capital Partners is raising $2 billion for its fifth Asia secondaries fund, DealStreetAsia reported Nov. 12, citing sources familiar with the matter.

* True Wind Capital Management LP raised $817 million for its second fund. The True Wind Capital II LP fund, which surpassed its initial target, has deployed capital into contracts provider AIA Contract Documents and pet services marketplace Rover Group Inc.

VENTURE CAPITAL

* Sustainability-focused venture capital firm Energy Impact Partners LP raised more than $1 billion in capital commitments at the final close of its latest flagship fund. Fund II received support from several corporate partners and investors.

* Venture capital firm A91 Partners LLP raised $550 million at the final close of its second fund, Livemint reported. The fund will invest in 15 to 17 established companies in India in the consumer goods and services, financial services, healthcare and technology sectors, according to the report.
