Camera company Snap Inc. bought Ariel AI Inc., a London-based tech company that focuses on augmented and mixed reality application, around September 2020, Business Insider reported Jan. 26, citing a company confirmation.
While the purchase price for Ariel AI remains undisclosed, it is reportedly likely to be in the single-digit millions.
U.K. financial filings reviewed by Business Insider denoted that Snap CEO Evan Spiegel and Chief Technology Officer Bobby Murphy became majority shareholders in Ariel AI in September 2020.
The report also noted that Snap hired 12 Ariel AI engineers in its London-based computer vision team at the end of last year.
