JLL quits involvement in sale of Trump hotel in Washington, DC – The Real Deal

Real estate services firm Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. will no longer participate in the sale of the 263-room Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., The Real Deal reported Jan. 8, citing a tweet from The Washington Post reporter Jonathan O'Connell.

It is still not clear whether the company's decision was a result of the riot when Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, according to the report. The sales process for the hotel at 1100 Pennsylvania Ave. was put on hold in November 2020 when buyout bids came in short of the expected value of about $500 million.

A JLL spokesperson did not immediately answer the news publication's request for comment.

Additionally, Marriott International Inc. will pause its political donations to Republican members of Congress who voted against the certification of election result after the violent unrest Jan. 6 that aimed "to undermine a legitimate and fair election," Business Insider reported Jan. 11, a spokeswoman for the hotel chain said in an emailed statement.
