The tumultuous landscape of 2022 saw numerous billion-dollar weather and climate disasters, resulting in an estimated $313 billion in losses. As we anticipate Climate Week and COP28, the Finance theme underscores the imperative of modeling and quantifying the financial implications of the combination of physical impacts and the transition to a low carbon economy.
Financial institutions are demanding climate risk analytics with ever-greater levels transparency, robust scientific underpinning, and realism.
In this webinar, S&P Global, in partnership with Oliver Wyman, will explore the current frontiers of climate risk analytics. Participants can expect to gain an understanding of the latest approaches and capabilities to address market needs for modeling physical and transition climate-related financial risks.

He helps financial institutions integrate climate related considerations into financial risk management practices such as climate scenario analysis and stress testing, underwriting, climate-related limits, and climate risk appetite. Most recently, Alban has been supporting systemically important financial institutions (SIFI) to meet regulatory expectations on climate risk (including the Bank of England’s PRA climate stress test exercise) and to implement the recommendations of the Financial Stability Board’s (FSB) Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
In addition to his consulting work, Alban leads the firm’s development of Climate Credit Analytics, a climate scenario analysis and credit analytics model suite, developed in collaboration with S&P Global. He also supported a working group of 16 global banks (convened by the UN Environment Program – Finance Initiative) to develop a methodology to assess climate risks and opportunities in banks’ corporate lending portfolio.
He has authored several publications on the topic of climate risk, is a frequent speaker at industry events, and serves on the finance panel of the SENSES project, a global expert working group convened by the climate science community to develop the new generation of climate scenarios.
