Marc Karstaedt is Vice President, Channel and Strategic Alliances, for S&P Global Platts, a division of S&P Global and the leading global provider of information and benchmarks for the energy and commodity markets. In this role, Marc leads Platts commercial strategy and policy for all Platts distribution channel partners, market alliances, and the licensing of Platts indices to exchanges. Marc is also a member of the Platts Executive Committee.
Marc joined the company in 2007 and played a key role in the development and global launch of its eWindow service, an online data-entry and communications tool for Platts’ price assessment processes in oil and petroleum-related products. Based in Houston, Marc assumed his current position in February 2016, after leading S&P Global Platts Global Trading Services, where he managed the firm’s eWindow and indices licensing groups.
Before joining Platts, Marc was a successful entrepreneur leading a number of ventures servicing the needs of the global energy marketing and trading community, including the founding of the world’s first electronic exchange for natural gas.
Earlier in his career Marc was an information technology specialist and software developer in the Canadian oil and gas industry.
Marc received a BSc degree in Statistics and Applied Probability from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
