Tom Hackenberg leads the processor team at S&P Global and is an expert in processor markets and technologies.

Tom Hackenberg’s broad scope of processor coverage includes traditional microcomponent and application specific processor markets. He has developed the Processor Intelligence Service that includes reports and trackers covering microcontrollers, microprocessors, signal processors, system-on-chip, graphics processors, field programmable gate arrays and discrete application-specific processors. Other key research includes Processors in Network Infrastructure, Processors for Industrial and Automotive markets. He is a key contributor to custom research that includes processor intelligence. Mr. Hackenberg provides a breadth of knowledge related to deeply embedded systems in markets such as automotive, industrial and telecommunications equipment. His analysis extends to processor technology trends such as embedded vision, internet-of-things (IoT), sensor fusion, smart devices, artificial Intelligence (AI) and embedded security. He came to S&P Global through its acquisition of IMS Research where he began as a processor analyst in 2006. Before his work as an analyst, he worked in the computer industry for Dell and Power Computing and as a database designer, HR professional and manager for the University of Texas. Mr. Hackenberg holds a BSEE from the University of Texas at Austin specializing in Processors and FPGAs.
