David Brown

David Brown is an associate director in the Base Chemical Insights group at S&P Global Commodity Insights.

David is an associate director in the Base Chemical Insights group at S&P Global Commodity Insights. He is responsible for coverage of the phenolics (cumene, phenol, acetone) and polyurethane feedstocks (MDI/TDI/propylene oxide/polyether polyols) markets in the Americas. He is a co-author of the Market Advisory Service - North America Aromatics, Global Acetone and Global Polyurethane Feedstocks, as well as the World Analysis - Cumene/Phenol/Acetone, MDI, TDI and Propylene Oxide reports, while also contributing insight to other S&P Global services.

Prior to joining the company in 2016, David worked as a Process Engineer at Jacobs. During his time there, he spent two years working within Dow's ethylene oxide/glycol technology licensing group in Charleston, West Virginia, developing the process design package for a world-scale glycols plant in the US Gulf Coast. He also has engineering experience in gas terminals, Fischer-Tropsch, ethanol-to-ethylene processes, and phosphate mining, with both Jacobs and BP Chemical.

He holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Nottingham achieving a first class with honours, graduating in 2013.
