Bruce Sewell, Apple Inc.'s general counsel and senior vice president of legal and government affairs since 2009, will retire at the end of 2017.

Katherine Adams, former senior vice president and general counsel of Honeywell International Inc., will succeed Sewell, according to an Oct. 6 news release.

Adams will serve on Apple's executive team, reporting to company CEO Tim Cook.
