Telefónica inks deal with Twitter, others ahead of home device launch

Telefónica SA partnered with department store owner El Corte Inglés SA, airline Iberia and Twitter Inc. to add new features to its smart home device, Movistar Home, ahead of its launch.

Users of Movistar Home, the Spanish telco's artificial intelligence-powered digital assistant, will be able to see what is trending on Twitter while viewing specific content. Users will also be able to look for El Corte Inglés' products related to the content broadcast on the home device through a catalog.

Through the agreement, users will be able to make inquiries about the status of the flights they have reserved or purchased with Iberia, among other tasks, by year-end. Movistar Home also is set to launch an interactive quiz game by year-end.

The company will soon launch a holiday campaign during which the device will be sold for €79.
