Mirasol Resources Ltd. said June 12 that it discovered a high-grade, gold-silver vein-breccia system, dubbed the Aurora prospect, at its Nico project in Argentina's Santa Cruz province.
The company completed an exploration program at the prospect comprising geological mapping, detailed ground magnetics and rock chip sampling.
Assays from the first 486 rock chip samples ranged up to 8.87 g/t of gold and 1,017 g/t of silver. An additional 627 rock chip samples have been submitted for assay, and results will be reported in the third quarter, Mirasol said.
Geological mapping, meanwhile, outlined a prospective structural setting for mineralization that bears similarities with the structural setting of several significant gold-silver mines in the province.
Nico has been on care and maintenance before Mirasol restarted exploration at the site late in 2016.
In November 2016 and February 2017, Mirasol staked 7,413 hectares of new claims at Nico to cover potential extensions of the Aurora mineral trends, bringing the total project area to 27,259 hectares.
