Edgewell Personal Care profit beats consensus by 41.6% in fiscal Q3

Edgewell Personal Care Co. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended June 30 was $1.12 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 79 cents per share.

EPS fell 11.0% year over year from $1.26.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $69.7 million, a decrease of 11.3% from $78.6 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 3.2% from 7.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue decreased 7.3% on an annual basis to $1.05 billion from $1.13 billion, and total operating expenses decreased 6.0% year over year to $914.8 million from $973.1 million.

Reported net income came to a loss of $72.8 million, or a loss of $1.17 per share, compared to income of $64.3 million, or $1.03 per share, in the prior-year period.
