Orchids Paper Products Co. said its normalized net income for the first quarter was 50 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 30 cents per share.
EPS climbed year over year from 13 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $5.1 million, a gain from $1.2 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 10.8% from 3.1% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 27.6% year over year to $47.7 million from $37.4 million, and total operating expenses increased 11.1% from the prior-year period to $39.5 million from $35.5 million.
Reported net income grew on an annual basis to $5.4 million, or 52 cents per share, from $1.2 million, or 14 cents per share.
