Vodafone Group PLC plans to hire nearly 7,000 software engineers for its European technical workforce by 2025 as part of an increased investment in meeting digital connectivity needs, demand for which has grown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The U.K. telco said in an Oct. 21 statement that the new hires will join Vodafone Technology, a function within the company that focuses on developing internet of things products, smart network features, cybersecurity services, and digital and information technology services in Europe.
Vodafone said over half of all Vodafone Technology employees will be working in software engineering by 2025.
The company invested €8 billion in the last financial year in technology and digital projects.
