Barclays rejigs top executives; Bank Norwegian appoints CEO

Barclays

* Barclays PLC appointed Paul Compton global head of the corporate and investment bank and president of unit Barclays Bank PLC as part of key management changes under new CEO C.S. Venkatakrishnan.

Compton was most recently global head of investment banking and co-president of the unit.

The U.K.-based lender also appointed Alistair Currie global head of consumer banking and payments and Ashok Vaswani chief digital strategy officer. Stephen Dainton was named co-head of global markets — distribution, while Adeel Khan was appointed co-head of global markets — trading.

David Farrow will replace Currie as Barclays' head of corporate banking on an interim basis, while J.F. Astier and John Miller will take over from Compton as global co-heads of investment banking.

Farrow was most recently head of client coverage for corporate banking, while Astier and Miller were most recently co-heads of investment banking. Dainton and Khan were previously deputy head of markets and global head of credit products, respectively.

Bank Norwegian

Bank Norwegian ASA appointed Klara-Lise Aasen CEO, effective immediately.

Aasen has been interim CEO of the Norway-based bank since June 2021 and CFO since October 2020.

Additionally, Aasen will remain CFO until further notice.
