Actis LLP pulled in $2.9 billion in capital commitments at the first close of its latest fund focused on renewable energy investments in emerging markets, a person familiar with the matter told Private Equity News, citing a letter sent to investors.
The Actis Energy 5 LP fund, which has a $4 billion target, will mainly invest in wind and solar projects across Latin America, Africa and parts of Asia, the source said. The fundraising began earlier in 2020 and attracted increased investor appetite for renewable energy, the person added.
The London-based private equity and venture capital firm did not comment on the matter, the report noted.
