East Syracuse, N.Y.-based Countryside FCU and Watertown, N.Y.-based Northern CU announced their intention to merge by Sept. 1.
Pursuant to the transaction, Countryside will convert to a state-chartered credit union and operate as a division of Northern while retaining its current name. The merger will result in 10 locations in northern and Central New York.
Northern plans to retain employees of both credit unions, according to a news release.
Countryside members will vote on the proposed transaction Aug. 1.
