Japan Gold expands Barrick Gold project alliance with new prospecting rights

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry approved British Columbia-based Japan Gold Corp.'s applications for 18 new prospecting rights covering extensions to projects under its alliance with Barrick Gold Corp.

The prospecting rights cover extensions to the Mizobe and Onoyama-Yamagano projects in Southern Kyushu's Hokusatsu region, the country's largest gold-producing area.

This brings Japan Gold's total coverage in Hokusatsu to 100,452.8 hectares, or about 84% of prospective and explorable ground in the region.

With the new prospecting rights, Japan Gold's portfolio comprises 202,926.2 hectares of prospective ground across five major Japanese epithermal gold provinces within Kyushu, Honshu and Hokkaido.
