- Governments not really helping: Conflict looks set to continue in Ukraine, making global cooperation difficult. Tech investment policies announced in 2022 are now being implemented and may bifurcate the industry. Environmental matters are coming to the fore as the EU implements CBAM.
- A quick dip in activity: Our latest global trade forecasts call for global trade activity to dip in Q1’23 versus a year earlier, before recovering modestly for the year as a whole. We’ll walk through our forecast and show stagnation in commodities is offset by growth in consumer and capital goods.
- Tough times, still, mean tough choices: Inventory volatility continues to dog supply chains even as logistics disruptions dissipate. A return to historic seasonality patterns in shipments would be sign that normality has returned. We take a look at sectors which have already taken the tough decisions on reshoring.
