Bank capital and resolution frameworks have come under renewed scrutiny after recent high-profile cases exposed uncertainties regarding instrument hierarchy, triggers, and investor confidence. Banks face the dual challenge of maintaining strong capital positions while managing funding costs and market access. This environment favours institutions that clearly demonstrate how their liability structures absorb losses and support resolvability. Our webinar will examine the relevance of revisiting structural loss-absorbing capacity in banks and refocusing the prudential debate in light of Credit Suisse’s resolution and the subsequent international policymaker reflections on Additional Tier 1 (AT1) capital. The discussion will explore what these developments mean for capital structure, risk, and resolution planning, and how banks and stakeholders interpret evolving regulatory expectations.
