American Equity Investment Life Holding Co.'s board appointed Dewayne Lummus as senior vice president and chief accounting officer, effective Nov. 30.

Lummus was the managing director and corporate controller of Equitable Holdings Inc.

Scott Samuelson will become the controller for American Equity's insurance and reinsurance business.

Sun Life Financial Inc. named Nhon Luc Ly CEO of its Vietnam business, Insurance Business Asia reported.

Nhon, who was CEO of AIA Myanmar, succeeds Larry Madge, who will take up a role at Sun Life's headquarters in Toronto, according to the report.

Property and casualty

Alliant Insurance Services Inc. appointed Rob Doerfler and Amy Barlow as senior vice presidents.

Doerfler will lead the forest products group, while Barlow will lead the company's agribusiness and forestry growth and development initiatives.

Doerfler was the director of forestry at a global insurance brokerage. Barlow was a senior vice president and the Pacific Northwest and Northern California middle-market broking leader at a global insurance brokerage.

Jean LaTorre resigned as a member of First American Financial Corp.'s board of directors, effective Nov. 4.

Reinsurance

Lockton Re appointed Simon Moore and James Boon as senior brokers within its non-marine retrocession and property specialty division in London, Reinsurance News reported.

Moore was the chief underwriting officer of CATCo Investment Management Ltd. in Bermuda, while Boon was a reinsurance broker at Aon PLC.
