For the last 11 years, the Community Bankers Conference, created by SNL Financial, has been the premier forum at which influential executives, board members, investors, technology providers, and advisers put forward their visions, views of the strategic issues facing community banks, and actions for success.
Join us at the 2023 Community Bankers Conference as we discuss what it takes to lead a high-performing community bank now and into the future.
Through panel discussions, networking events, and one-on-one conversations, you’ll walk away with solutions for today and a vision for tomorrow. Discuss strategy, differentiation, and performance, while listening to in-depth presentations and networking with peers. In addition, celebrate the Top Community Bank winners and enjoy a unique opportunity to learn from the best.
Community banks stood on strong footing, through most of 2022. Net revenue across the U.S. banking industry reached an all-time high through the first nine months of 2022, buoyed by wider margins that more than offset shrinking balance sheets, weaker fee income and higher expenses. Many community banks reported higher EPS in the fourth quarter of 2022, however, others experienced margin compression as deposit costs rose at a quicker pace. However, the banking industry has experienced a tremendous amount of uncertainty and volatility due to the recent liquidity failures at select regional banks. As a result, an even greater emphasis has been placed on banks' capital, and funding positions and interest rate risk management. Elevated inflation and the Federal Reserve's efforts to tame it with higher interest rates have raised fears of a potential recession, but the U.S. economy continues to show signs of strength. How the unprecedented confluence of economic forces will impact banks in 2023 and beyond remains in question. Can community banks maintain their momentum and excel through volatility?
Financial technology offers community banks the tools to better serve customers in their most immediate markets but also those beyond their physical footprint. The community bank business model is changing and fintech increases the accessibility for community banks to deploy their uniquely valuable services in a more efficient manner, freeing up time so bankers can focus on relationships with their customers. Optimism abounds as the balance of power between financial technology companies and banks has dramatically shifted in favor of banks. Can community banks continue to leverage financial technology to innovate to thrive?
Given all the questions the recent banking crisis has created, now is the time for community bank executives to come together with their most trusted advisors in the industry to gain clarity on the future implications of the recent events and how community bank executives can position their institutions for success going forward.
