Netflix Inc. will increase the prices of its subscription plans in Japan by up to 13%, the Nikkei Asia reported Feb. 5.
The streaming company's standard streaming plan will increase to ¥1,490 a month, a ¥170 rise, while the basic monthly plan will rise to ¥990 from ¥880, according to the report.
The premium plan, however, will remain at ¥1,980 per month.
Netflix's subscribers in Japan have reportedly grown to over 5 million, adding about 2 million subscribers in the past year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
It increased its prices for some of its offerings in the U.K. in January following its price hike in the U.S. in October 2020.
As of Feb. 4, US$1 was equivalent to ¥105.44.
