FERC appoints chief of staff, general counsel; Siemens Energy to cut 7,800 jobs

Power

* Dawn Farrell is retiring as president, CEO and director of TransAlta Corp. on March 31. Farrell will be succeeded by John Kousinioris.

* Duke Energy Florida LLC President Catherine Stempien is leaving to become president and CEO of Avangrid Networks Inc.

* NRG Energy Inc. CFO Kirkland Andrews is stepping down to assume the same role at Evergy Inc.

* IPALCO Enterprises Inc. elected Bernerd Da Santos to the board of directors.

* Alpha Metallurgical Resources Inc., formerly Contura Energy Inc., added Kenneth Courtis, Elizabeth Fessenden and Daniel Smith to its board as independent directors, effective Feb. 1.

* Entergy Corp. named John Weiss vice president of sustainability and environmental policy effective Feb. 8. Weiss succeeds Chuck Barlow, according to a Feb. 4 news release.

* Siemens Energy AG plans to lay off 7,800 workers as the company tries to stay competitive in an industry shaken by the transition to renewable energy.

* Duke Energy Corp. appointed Kelley Karn vice president for regulatory affairs and policy for Indiana.

* AES Corp. subsidiary Indianapolis Power & Light Co. added Brandi Davis-Handy as chief public relations officer, Aaron Cooper as chief commercial officer, Tom Raga as government affairs teams lead and Courtney Arango as government affairs director. External Affairs Director Fred Mills retired from the role, according to a Jan. 29 news release.

Oil and gas utility/midstream

* Oklahoma oil and gas producer Chesapeake Energy Corp. fired 220 workers, about 15% of its workforce, on its way out of bankruptcy.

* AltaGas Ltd. appointed Jon-Al Duplantier as an independent director, effective Feb. 2.

* NiSource Inc. promoted Anne-Marie D'Angelo to executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary effective Jan. 30, according to a Feb. 3 news release.

* Exxon Mobil Corp. named Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin as a director, according to a Feb. 2 news release.

* Spire Inc. appointed Nick Popielski as its first head of environmental commitment.

* Marathon Petroleum Corp. Executive Vice President and CFO Maryann Mannen joined the board of MPLX LP's general partner, MPLX GP LLC, effective Feb. 1.

* Marathon Petroleum named Brian Davis executive vice president and chief commercial officer, according to a Feb. 1 news release.

* Exxon Mobil elected Len Fox vice president and controller of the company effective March 1. Fox will succeed David Rosenthal, who is retiring on or around July 1, according to a Feb. 1 news release.

* Crestwood Equity Partners LP appointed Frances Vallejo as a board director of its general partner.

* Delek Logistics Partners LP appointed Sherri Brillon to Delek Logistics GP LLC's board, according to a Feb. 1 news release.

* The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's chairman appointed Pamela Quinlan acting chief of staff and Matt Christiansen general counsel.
