Cellnex Telecom SA and Deutsche Telekom AG agreed to merge their telecom towers businesses in the Netherlands, according to a Jan. 21 news release.
Under the agreement, unit Cellnex Netherlands BV will operate T-Mobile Infra BV's 3,150 telecom towers and sites in the country. Upon deal closing, Cellnex will have 4,314 sites in the Netherlands.
Cellnex and T-Mobile Netherlands BV will sign a 15-year provision contract, which includes the rollout of 180 new sites. The agreement is automatically renewable for 10-year periods.
Cellnex and Deutsche Telekom also created a fund, the Digital Infrastructure Vehicle, for future investments in digital infrastructure such as fiber and data centers.
The infrastructure company committed €200 million to the fund, while Deutsche Telekom pledged about €400 million capital in the form of an asset contribution.
