DBRS upgrades Huntington Bancshares, unit

DBRS upgraded Columbus, Ohio-based Huntington Bancshares Inc.'s long-term issuer and long-term senior debt ratings to A.

The rating agency also upgraded the company's preferred stock rating to BBB and subordinated debt rating to A (low), and confirmed its R-1 (low) short-term issuer and short-term instruments ratings.

According to DBRS, the upgrade recognizes the company's "sustained top-tier financial performance." The rating agency noted that Huntington kept its credit profile sound and strengthened its franchise.

In addition, the rating agency upgraded Huntington National Bank's long-term issuer, long-term deposits and long-term senior debt ratings to A (high); short-term issuer rating to R-1 (middle); and subordinated debt rating to A.

The trend on all the ratings is now stable.
