Meredith tops media short interest gainers in early January

Meredith Corp. posted the greatest increase in short interest relative to shares outstanding among SNL-covered media and entertainment companies between Dec. 30, 2016, and Jan. 13.

The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding climbed 151 basis points to 15.47% as of Jan. 13.

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. reached the top of the list of media and entertainment companies with the largest decreases in short interest in the first half of January. The percentage of the company's shares held short relative to shares outstanding fell 112 basis points to 4.20% as of Jan. 13.

Nexstar Media Group Inc. topped the list of most shorted media and entertainment companies between Dec. 30, 2016, and Jan. 13. The company saw short interest decline 49 basis points to 30.50% of shares outstanding.
