Nelnet paying employees bonus following tax reform

Nelnet Inc. will pay a $1,000 bonus to nearly all of its 4,100 employees in their Dec. 29 paycheck thanks to the corporate tax rate cut, the Lincoln Journal Star reported.

The tax plan will significantly benefit the company that does little business overseas, the report said, citing Nelnet CEO Jeffrey Noordhoek. The bonus plan will cost Nelnet about $4 million, while its income tax liability could see a decrease of over $50 million based on its 2016 income tax numbers, the report said.
